Narendra Modi accused the commission of “bias” and working
under “political influence” for not allowing his rally at Beniabagh in
the city. He said the denial of permission was part of “match-fixing” to
thwart his campaign.
“I don’t know under whose influence you are functioning.
The people have
defeated the Congress.
That is, "match-fixing."
When Narendra Modi said, "
people have defeated the Congress,"
that is match-fixing.
The EC cannot help you [Congress] win,” he said
at a rally on the outskirts of Varanasi. Narendra Modi warned the Election Commission against
hurting the democratic credentials of the country.
“It is unfortunate
that the EC is not concerned about the institution’s neutrality,” he
tweeted earlier in the day. After the rally, hundreds of BJP supporters assembled outside Banaras
Hindu University waiting for Mr. Modi, shouting slogans such as
Abki
baar Modi sarkaar.
मोदी सरकार कभी नहीं
As his convoy arrived, led by a rally of motorcycles with party
supporters, the slogan-shouting reached a crescendo. Paramilitary forces
struggled to control the crowd from breaching the security cordon.
Pranjal, way to go man!
You did the right thing.
Look at the fact; the paramilitary forces struggled.
So, you took the right decision to say No to Modi.
You're the real hero.
Ganga Maa, doesn't want this fake, to touch her.
Mr Pranjal Yadav, 34, is the District Magistrate of Varanasi, which will vote on
May 12, in the last round of the staggered nine-phase national
election. He is an IIT graduate known to champion development.
Mr Yadav is said to be popular for building new roads and trying to remove illegal squatters in the temple town known to struggle with pollution and overcrowding.
He is believed to be working on a new master plan for Varanasi. During floods last year, Mr Yadav reportedly drew attention for working long hours.
After the controversy over the Narendra Modi events, however, the officer seems to have gained admirers and critics in equal measure, also on social media.
One section has described him as the "face of the fascist forces that are rattled by the Modi wave." Many in this group allege that he is close to the Samajwadi Party, which rules Uttar Pradesh.
Another set of tweets describe him as an "upright officer who worked tirelessly" during the floods in the city.

Mr. Modi then held a five-km roadshow to the main BJP election office amid a sea of supporters in saffron caps.
The day began with senior BJP leaders Arun Jaitley, H.N. Ananth Kumar
and Amit Shah staging a sit-in outside the university, defying Section
144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure imposed in the area. They raised
slogans against the commission.
In Delhi, BJP workers took out a protest march to the commission headquarters, but were stopped mid-way.
“We are conducting an election and not contesting against other
candidates,” he shot back when asked why the commission had taken so
long to respond to allegations of partisanship.
Backing the returning officer in Varanasi for denying the BJP’s prime
ministerial candidate Narendra Modi permission to hold a rally in the
city, Chief Election Commissioner V. S. Sampath rejected charges of
being biased and counselled political leaders who have questioned the
commission’s neutrality to “show greater maturity.”
That was a message from Sampath to Modi.
"Modi bhai, show greater maturity." ___________________________
Jaitley u-turn
Leader of the Opposition in the
Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley, who has been campaigning in Varanasi for the
past two days, was stinging in his offensive against the commission.
In
a statement earlier in the day, he said: “I cannot conceal my
disappointment with the Election Commission. Men in constitutional
offices need to be bolder. Timid men can dwarf high offices.”
However,
two hours after the press conference, Mr. Jaitley welcomed the
reaffirmation of the commission of its independence and commitment
towards conducting a free and fair election.
Earlier,
a delegation of senior BJP leaders led by former party president M.
Venkaiah Naidu and Ravi Shankar Prasad met officials of the commission
and conveyed that they were not targeting the panel.

All BJP leaders are now struggling to support the activities of Narendra Modi.
Narendra Modi does things on his own, without consulting others. But the media is questioning the BJP leaders. BJP Spokespersons find it very difficult to defend Narendra Modi's action. Even, Amit Shah couldn't justify his boss's action of taking a selfie with lotus symbol on that election day in Gujarat.
In fact, good thing has happened to that respected lady, Jashodaben.
Had Narendra Modi continued to live with her,
life would have been सत्यानाश कर दिया
