Erase Ink. Vote Twice.

Pawar’s ‘vote twice’

“In the last elections, Mumbai and Satara voted on the same day. This time, Satara votes on the April 17 and Mumbai on April 24. So, first cast your vote for our candidate in Satara and then wash off the ink and cast your vote in Mumbai,” Mr. Pawar said. “If you do not wash off your ink then it might create some problems,” Mr. Pawar added.

This demonstrates the effectiveness of current communication. When you are in public services, you cannot have any private conversation. You are always in the middle of the crowd. People listens to you always. All your good things, as well as bad things reach millions of people.

Karamchand Mohandas didn't have this luxury.

One good thing about this current communication is - truth. No rumors. No mis-interpretation. The words come out of your mouth reaches the larger population as it is, without any noise or distortion; in very High-Definition quality.

In fact, we need to appreciate Shard Pawar.

In the computer industry, when a QA team finds out a bug in the system; we appreciate them.

Also, when a hacker breaks a web site, we award him and build a more secure firewall.

In the same way, we need to appreciate Shard Pawar for his contribution to the improvement of Indian Democracy.

First and foremost, people now understands the meaning of the ink.

Barack Obama doesn't show off any ink in his finger, when he vote in any election.

Why do we have ink on our fingers?

It is so sad, this generation don't even ask that question.

Fortunately, there is no ink for the MLA and MP, when they vote for the selection of the president of India.

Ink mark on your finger is not a good thing. It is an insult to your character.

The authority do not trust you; they think that you are a cheat.

You vote once; and you may vote again.

To avoid multiple voting, they make a mark on your finger. Good that, they don't mark on your face.

Special scientific research has gone into it; you cannot erase that ink with soap; or even acid.

Political parties did make an attempt to erase it with some chemicals.

Usually the ink may last for a week.

Now with this prolonged election schedule, we are facing a new challenge.

The election now lasts for nearly a month.

So, we need to have a new ink; powerful enough to stay on your body for a month.

Something closer to a tattoo.

Now, we have BigData technology; we could have a centralized data store of information of our voters list.

When a person cast the vote, we shall update that person's record.

The polling officer should be able to access these backend datastore with their mobile phones.

We shall build a RESTful interface for query and transaction.

Hadoop and Cassandra and so many Big Data store are now available for much cheaper cost.

We can also build a search application using Solr or Elastic for search by name; constituency; by phone number; by last name; by address.

So, thank you Sharad Pawar for your contribution.
