Prannoy Lal Roy is an Indian journalist and
media personality.
Born: October 15, 1949 (age 64), Calcutta, India.
Prannoy Roy. You born in the free India. In fact, Free India is just two years older than you. Free India was born on August 15, 1947.
In those days, when you were young; may be in in the elementary school; what did you see.
Did you see numbers?
What did you see in 1949; or 1955 or 1965?
Did you see NUMBERS?
You saw top class citizens of free, fresh, young India.
They had just completed their struggle for freedom and entered into Indian Politics.
Almost all of them of great value; integrity of character.
They were the pure; clean like a fire.
You could never see NUMBERS in them.
Then, why; now you are feeding this generation with all these numbers.
What you sow is what is going to grow.
If you sow character, you will see characters in politics; then in people.
If you feed them with numbers, then how could you expect character of integrity in public life.
Numbers generate more numbers.
Numbers and measurements are the root cause for deterioration of characters in public life.
These numbers then turn into lakhs of crores in corruption. Nowadays you see very big numbers in any corruption. Those numbers don't even fit into a calculator.
If you send numbers to the parliament, then you could expect corruption in numbers; black money in numbers; swiss accounts and so on.

Democracy has three branches.
Legislative branch.
Executive branch.
Judicial branch.
All three branches are free and independent. Each branch needs to be effective.
It can be effective only when it is pure; true; and have people with integrity of character.
Judicial branch is one whole branch. You don't refer those judges as ruling judge and opposition judge. All judges may not agree on all issues. So their agreement or disagreement are not fixed. They do not form a group or team and act together. Each judge is free and independent. So their actions are also free and independent. When they don't agree, they go for voting and announce the outcome as a verdict.
Executive branch; we don't have one. As per the constitution, our President is the executive. But, we all know, the authority and the responsibility of the president. When we refer to our president, we don't call as President of the ruling party or the President of the opposition. We just call, the President of India.
There is no opposition in the Executive Branch; no opposition in the Judicial Branch.
Then why should we have an opposition in the Legislative Branch.
All 543 MPs, together make it a whole Legislative Branch.
All 543 MPs, have contested in an election and people elected them as their representatives.
No loser goes to the parliament.
All are winners.
In fact, MP, that word doesn't convey the responsibility of them; as well as the citizens. It doesn't convey the relationship between the citizens and those MPs.
There is a relationship between the citizens and those MPs.
People of India elect their representatives and send them to the parliament. So, MPs should be called as People Representative of Indian Parliament.
Let us have a new acronym, PRIP - People Representative of Indian Parliament.
So, Prannoy Lal Roy, it is your responsibility to inform the people of India, about the character of serious candidates from all 543 constituency.
Numbers have already gone into the garbage bin.
Bring the character of integrity of all these PRIP. That will be a service to the nation.
These numbers may double your numbers in profit of your NDTV.
But characters of PRIP, will transform the nation and its people.
